Safety Step and Safety Step Landing Covers (Safety Step Covers)

Our GRP (Fibreglass) Safety Step and Safety Step Landing Covers are extremely durable and simple to install, together they provide a covering of the entire step and landing areas. The carbon and silicone grit applied to the top surface not only provides an extremely slip resistant surface but also withstands the rigors of even the busiest of environments.

The majority of external staircases are constructed from steel and the treads are formed using 'checkerplate'. Whilst this traditional construction method provides adequate structural strength, the checkerplate is notoriously slippery in wet and icy conditions.

Durability: Safety Step is a high quality composite of glass woven matting impregnated with isopthalic resin. The energy absorption and flexibility of Safety Step ensures its long life, even in the busiest of environments.

Slip resistant: A compound of carbon and silicone grit is added in the final layer of the laminate providing a superb slip resistant and hard wearing surface.

Corrosion resistant: Safety Step is resistant to a wide range of chemicals and is perfectly suited for use even in the harshest of environments. Chemical resistance guides are available on request.

Dimensions: Safety Step stair treads are available up to a maximum of 3000mm wide, 345mm deep and with either a 40mm or 55mm nosing. Standard stock panels are all nominally 4mm thick.

Safety Step Landing Covers serve the same purpose as stair treads but their additional depth allows most landing areas and top steps to be covered without the need for joints. Whilst special sizes can be made to order, standard landing covers are available up to a maximum of 2400mm wide, 1200mm deep and with either a 40mm or 55mm nosing. To ensure an even match with the stair treads, Safety Step landing covers are also nominally 4mm thick.

A free cutting service is available to provide panel sizes as required.

Colours: Black Safety Steps with a choice of Yellow, White or Stone Nosings are available from stock. Other colours are available but subject to a leadtime.

Installation: The versatility of Safety Step allows it to be applied to almost any surface such as concrete, steel or wood. The fact that it is supplied as a finished product means that it can be walked upon immediately keeping disruption to a minimum. We recommend a Mastic glue (which also prevents rocking on an uneven surface) and mechanical fixings (dependant on the surface to be mounted).
