Treadware Pultruded Grating

Overview

Although sharing the same qualities of Treadware Moulded Grating with regard to fire and chemical resistance, Treadware Pultruded Grating also offers a superior strength and stiffness across the bearing bar length due to the higher percentage of reinforcements to resins.

Definition: pultruded is a process for producing continuous fibres for advanced composites which involves pulling re-inforcements through tanks of thermoset resins, a pre-former, and then a die where the product is formed into its final shape.

This process often results in a reduction in the materials required for the support structure and therefore generally keeps costs competitive.

Benefits

Top Anti Slip Surface
Treadware Pultruded Grating has the option of a gritted top surface finish which easily exceeds the minimum requirements of the ‘extremely low potential’ for slip rating as per the UK Slip Resistant Group Guide 2002. It should be noted it comfortably offers better slip resistance and long life.

Fire Retardant and Chemical Resistant
Treadware Pultruded Grating has been tested in accord with BS 476: Part 7 and meets the performance requirements of Class 1. The resin compound used during manufacture means that the grating panels are resistant to a wide range of chemicals.

Lightweight and Impact Resistant
Treadware Pultruded Grating offers a significant weight saving over traditional materials like steel making the product easier to handle and install, requiring no heavy lifting equipment. The advanced product construction method means it also offers the added benefit of being extremely tough and impact resistant.

Increased Strength
Treadware Pultruded Grating is made up of many pieces of pultruded ‘I’ beam sections joined together by pultruded rod sections. Compared to other gratings, this product offers greater strength in one direction than standard moulded grating.

Non Magnetic and Non Sparking
Fibreglass’s non-magnetic properties allows the grating to be used in sensitive installations. Fibreglass Grating is also ideally suited for those installations where gases may be present and which may explode or cause a fire from sparks produced by accidental dropping of tools onto the grating

Technical/range

Treadware Pultruded Grating is available on fast deliveries from a very large variety of fibreglass gratings where even special requirements can often be speedily accommodated. Contact the office for advice or free samples for most of our fibreglass grating types.

Top Surface Finishes
As standard a grit top is applied to the majority of pultruded grating, however grating can be supplied with a standard plain top.

Colours
Any of the grating types shown below can be manufactured in any BS or RAL colour.

Resin System
The standard Treadware Pultruded Grating is constructed using high grade chemical resistant Isophthalic Polyester resin (click here for full chemical resistance chart). The resin includes a UV inhibitor and therefore is fire retardant to the requirements as set out in the BS 476: Part 7 Class 1 Rating. Other resin systems are also available including phenolic resins for increased fire retardant properties. For different resin compounds contact the office.

Slip Resistance
All Non-Slip products made of fibreglass and grit surface have been tested using the pendulum test method which is detailed in the British Standard BS4592-0:2006

Accessories

Fixing Clips
All clips are made from 316 stainless steel. The NonSlip installation recommendation (where ever possible) is to use a minimum of 40mm bearing support at all grating support points. The ‘hold down’ clips should be used at the rate of one clip for every 6 square feet (0.56square meters) of grating minimum, or at least 4 clips for any square or rectangular piece, or at least 3 for a triangular piece.
